Jules Verne (February 8, 1828 – March 24, 1905) was a French author who pioneered the science-fiction genre. He is best known for his novels Journey to the Center of the Earth (written in 1864), From the Earth to the Moon (1865), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1869–1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before navigable aircraft and practical submarines were invented, and before any means of space travel had been devised. Consequently he is often referred to as the "Father of science fiction", along with H. G. Wells. Verne is the second most translated author of all time, only behind Agatha Christie with 4162 translations.

No German French, Italian... Just English! Watch out
Unlike what is stated on the righthand side, teh books I dowloaded in this app ONLY show in english. Mind you! Please developers do something.
Mediocre at best
Lets leave aside the fact that look and feel are copied almost pixel by pixel from the Classics app. What continues to amaze me is how people put out editions of Jules Verne with absolutely no attention to the quality of the translations. (Its not just iPhone apps that do this - mainstream publishers do the same thing all the time.) Here, F. P. Walters excellent translation of 20,000 Leagues is joined with the hatchet job version of Journey to the Center of the Earth: the one that renames the charcters, changes their nationality, leaves out significant portions of Vernes text, and adds fantasias of the translators own invention. The version of Mysterious Island is another butchered version, with Vernes characters and politics all undergoing unaccountable transformation. There are acceptable public domain versions of all these texts. Please: iPhone book-app creators, PAY ATTENTION to which text youre using.
